 Book Title: Unsurprisingly Complicated
Author: Claudia Burgoa
Publication Date: May 5, 2015
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Follow the Tour:

The lies between my parents and I came to light and now I’m working on a new life for myself. Along the way, I have my trusty superhero, Mason, to lean on when I have a hard time standing or when my crazy ex-boyfriend continues to feel he has a claim on me.

Porter has trouble understanding that there hasn’t been an ‘us’ for more than three years plus all the issues he had brought upon himself. My father was right, drugs do kill. My other concern is the growing feelings I am having regarding Mason. There’s something between us I want to explore but I keep getting mixed signals. Here, I thought that after telling my parents about my lies and having their full support, things wouldn’t be as complicated as they are.

My parents divorced before I even made my entrance into this world. My father has been obsessed with that love for years while my mother searches for love in all the wrong places. I don’t want a place to call home or a girl I can claim as mine. Except… Ainsley Janine –better known as ‘Nine’—has some special power that makes me question my preferences. The more I try to stay away from her, the more she pulls me closer.

Exploring the possibilities of having something steady in my life isn’t a problem; it’s the long term that worries me. In addition to that, the scumbag she dated years ago keeps popping up everywhere we go. If I could use my license to kill, maybe I can stop worrying about one thing and concentrate on what to do with the green eyed girl who keeps me awake most nights.

I come out of the shower and head to my closet. The second shower in the past two hours. Our romantic second date was running. Some watch movies, others go to galleries, and a few repeat the dinner scene. We went for a jog. Well, we jogged and chatted at Washington Park Arboretum. A great experience, as we had a regular Mason-Ainsley interaction: work, my plans for the school, why I quit the substitute gigs.

I check myself in the full-size mirror while combing my hair. Today, I’m not trying to impress anyone, not even myself. A white tank top, a black maxi skirt, and a pair of flat sandals will have to serve its purpose. I pull my hair into a bun. Today’s a cleaning house and running errands kind of day. There’s a shopping list on my phone that MJ sent over; those two swear I’m their executive assistant. Maybe later, I can head to the farmers market for some fresh fruit for their place and mine. But before I do any of those, I head to the kitchen to grab a snack. But before I reach the kitchen, the bell rings. I walk to the kitchen and check the monitor above the refrigerator. One of the front porch cameras shows Mason’s grainy face; the other camera, his broad shoulders covered by a dark t-shirt.

“In a minute,” I say pressing the intercom button.

“Forgot something?” I question as I swing the door open.

His eyes sweep over my body, from head to bottom and all the way back. That cocky grin appears, but I only see it for a few seconds as Mason’s lips take possession of mine. It’s only a quick taste that leaves my mouth needing more. “This kissing you whenever I want is better than any video game I’ve ever played.”

“You’re such a geek, Mason Bradley.” My voice comes out dreamy because we both know that video games are one of his passions, and my kisses trump that. “Not that I mind you kissing me senseless, but you left twenty minutes ago saying ‘thank you for the best second date’ and I assumed you called it a day.”

“Date number two is over.” He lifts his arm, and I notice he’s holding a grocery bag. “We’re on date number three, Nine. Breakfast time!” His excited voice resonates through the walls.

My spine straightens, and I tilt my head as I stare into his gray eyes. “Three dates in less than twenty-four hours? That’s cheating the system.” In fact, part of yesterday’s conversation replays in my head. The exact words were, ‘I’m leaving later tonight for a job.’ “What happened to that mission you had last night?” I cross my arms, my eyes become two slits and my foot taps on the floor.

“I delegated.” He lifts a shoulder slightly then slumps his entire back. Not sure if he’s being casual about it or regretting it. “Maybe I wanted to accelerate the process when you mentioned that five date rule. However, after you stopped obsessing with having the perfect date and loosened up, I got to enjoy parts of you I’ve never had before.” He gives me a peck on the lips. “Including the physical portion of a relationship. Today I want to spend more time with you.”

Surprising, yet expected. For a guy who doesn’t believe, he’s wooing with his own style. Yet I’ve always known he’s sweet.

She now lives in Colorado working as a CFO for a small IT company, managing her household filled with three confused dogs, said nerd husband, two daughters wrought with fandoms and a son who thinks he’s the boss of the house. The Faster, Harder, Deeper Series by Sophia Sweet

Really think that this is a series that everyone should read.  It's a great set of short stories, packed with tons of heat. A three novella series of forbidden love.  A lot of people might say, Nah, that stuff isn't for me.  I know because I was the exact same way at first.  But it is a good story, very well written with a lot of heat and action packed into it.  Great time to read is now -  FREE on Kindle Unlimited!!

About the Author
Sophia Sweet is the author of the Faster, Harder, Deeper Series, the series of forbidden love. Sophia, proud owner of possibly the largest collection of glass dildos in the US, began writing her naughty, taboo stories while a student at the University of Florida. Cursed with what could be one of the worst

supernatural abilities imaginable, Breena has never had the luxury of falling

in love. Hell, she’s never even held a guy’s hand. At only twenty-two years

old, she’s just about given up on the whole love thing. After all, when you can

see twelve hours of someone’s future by a simple touch, and they, in turn, can

see what you see, well… relationships are sort of out of the question. Her gigs

performing psychic readings at parties, and the occasional one-on-one private

appointment are just about Breena’s only connection with people. No matter how

much she might wish otherwise.

Hawk Covington

Hawk’s hard body and skill have earned him a

starting position on the Pioneer’s college hockey team. But it’s not his talent

with a hockey stick that’s the most remarkable. His gorgeous two-colored eyes

not only draw the attention of every female on campus, they also allow him to

track people and objects. But when he suddenly finds himself stalked by a

stranger, he seeks out the help of the rumored, “campus gypsy” for help.

Despite his vow to stay single and play as many

college women as he can while the fun lasts, Hawk can’t ignore his attraction

to the lovely and spirited Breena. And she can’t get the hunky star hockey

player out of her mind once a single touch of his hand reveals something

utterly strange. Surrounded by mystery, they realize that fate has brought them

together for a reason, but can they stay alive long enough to recognize the

depth of their feelings for one another?

A Gypsy's Kiss WOW!! WHAT A GREAT STORY!!! This is a spin off series of The Whisper Cape series by Susan Griscom but I tell you that you don't have to read that series to know what AGK is about. Susan describes what you need to know about the Sectorium and peoples ablilities so you can understand them. She also mentions some of the characters in the Whisper Cape series cause they do relate to Breena and you wouldn't be lost.

Hawk a hockey player and Breena a student both have ablities. They meet cause Hawk needs Breena's help. Boy he got more than he was looking for. What a wonderful story of two young adults being friends, being there for one another and seeing where their relationship goes.

Susan did great with this story that you can actually see the places where the characters were and you can feel any emotions they had. WELL DONE!! Can't wait for book 2. But in the mean time seems I didn't read the Whisper Cape series I think I will dig in to that.

I daydream

often. If I didn't write, I think my mind would explode from an overload of

fantasy and weirdness. To the annoyance of my friends and family, my characters

sometimes become a part of my world. During my childhood, I would frequently

get in trouble in school for daydreaming. Eventually, my vivid imagination paid

off and I had the privilege of writing and co-directing my sixth-grade class

play--a dreadful disaster; though not from my writing, of course, I must blame

it on the acting.

The craft of writing, although dormant for

years, never really left me. Many years later, and with the help of technology,

I let my imagination run wild again.

Born in a small town in Pennsylvania, I enjoy

writing about characters living in small quaint towns. I tend to lean toward

the unusual and spooky. I read all genres but I love reading paranormal romance

and like writing in that genre.

My paranormal playing field delves into a

different milieu, abandoning vampires and werewolves, but not discounting them.

Someday I might like to write a novel about vamps and those furry creatures.

But for now I like the bizarre mixed with romance. A strong hero or heroine

confronted with extraordinary forces of nature, powers and capabilities gets my

blood running.

I live in Northern California with my very

romantic husband, my small yippy dog, Riley, and my humungous black cat, Saké.

My family consists of his and her children; four wonderful sons, one beautiful

daughter, and seven grandchildren. My greatest love in life is my family and

those large and ever growing holiday dinners.

I enjoy traveling. I hate running, but do it

once in a while. Reading and writing are my favorite pastimes.

“Daniel, don’t take any stupid risks...not for me.”

“What do you mean? ‘Not for you’ I don’t offer these superior surroundings to just anybody.”

“Seriously, Daniel. I heard what you did. Be careful.” Raven looked him in the eye, and then, surprising both of them, tears started to slide down her cheeks. “Oh, not again. Damn I hate how this place wreaks havoc on one’s emotions. doesn’t mean anything.”

Daniel reached a hand and ever so slowly wiped the tears off her cheek. But then, he was unable to just remove his hand. He couldn’t bring himself to break the contact with Raven. “It’s not true, you know.”

“What’s not true?” Raven punctuated the question with a hearty sniff and slurp of her tears.

Daniel chuckled at the lack of her normally reserved demeanor. Normally so in control of her emotions, Raven sobbed once more. “You’re crying because you care for me.”
