What she didn’t expect, was meeting a dangerously handsome stranger in an art gallery. He is charming, sexy as hell, and does funny things to her insides. Her frozen heart slowly melts as he seduces her, awakening her deepest desires, showing her that the kind of love she craves is very possible. She wants him as much as he wants her.
Battling his demons from the past, famous photographer Nicholas Gallagher has successfully evaded serious relationships, earning him the title of the world’s most eligible bachelor. But from the moment he lays eyes on Natalie, she stirs something in him. Compelled to chase the sadness from her vivid blue eyes, Nick is captivated by the spirited Australian beauty.
Hot romance.
Steamy sex.
Absolute perfection.
Until Natalie gets a call from home – one she can’t ignore.  In a fateful moment the game changes and throws her life into chaos. Gabriel, her jealous ex, wants her back. Two powerful men want her. She is forced to make a choice that will tear her apart.
Will Natalie make the right choice? Will she finally find her soul mate, the one person who can look into her eyes and see deep into her soul, everything she is and everything she desires… will she finally open her eyes?
A Stand-alone Novel.

Nick must have sensed that I was awake. He slowly opened his eyes, confused for a few seconds before remembering where he was. He caught me in the act of staring at him, drawing in a short sharp breath when he looked down at me, straight into my eyes. A wicked grin spread over his face as he turned onto his side and hauled me even closer, encaging me with both his arms.

“What a lovely way to wake up,” he whispered as he planted a kiss in my hair. His big hand rubbed up my back leisurely, as if he was savoring the moment, his palm applying just the right amount of pressure to my spine to make me want to purr. In spite of trying to suppress it, a small moan escaped my lips as he reached my neck and gently traced up it with his fingers, till his hand disappeared into my hair. Very gently, he massaged the base of my scalp till I dug my forehead into his chest, the simple touch sending ripples of pleasure through my already aroused body.
Good God! I barely knew the man, but his touch alone could ignite a fire in my belly of a magnitude I had never experienced before. If he could get this kind of toe-curling reaction from me by merely massaging my neck, what would making love with him do to me?
He gently tugged a fist full of my hair, raising my face up to his. I had closed my eyes, not wanting him to see the desire burning deep within me. My heart pounded in my chest as I tried desperately to keep my breathing even.
“Open your eyes. Look at me,” he whispered. I obeyed, even though it would expose my deepest feelings, slowly meeting his intense gaze. I gasped at the yearning in his eyes. My eyes melted into his as he searched my soul, seeing deeper than anyone ever had.
“Natalie,” he groaned softly as his head dipped and his lips covered mine. The kiss was gentle at first, a meeting of mouths and tasting one another. “So sweet,” he murmured against my mouth, then let his tongue slide along my lips, till I parted my mouth to let him slip in. He tasted of cheesecake and sleep…and passion and fire. His silky tongue glided along mine, a mingling of breaths and raw desire.
His hand moved down my back to cup my bottom and pull me against his body, closing the gap between us. So far I had carefully avoided touching in intimate places, much like a virgin in denial of the awakening of her body.
His arousal pushed into my belly, and I let out a gasp that he swallowed quickly with his mouth. My pulse quickened at the feel of his hard length throbbing against me, only the fabric of our clothing between us. The warm liquid pooling between my legs begged for more of him, but I lay there, unable to move, stunned that this man so obviously wanted me. I was getting more and more out of my depth with every passing moment. I wanted him, yet I wasn’t sure how to respond.
I’d never been a one-night stand type of girl. And I definitely didn’t do sex on a first date. Hell, this wasn’t even supposed to be a date. And he was virtually a stranger. Yet the want – the longing – in my belly overwhelmed my senses. I wanted to rub up against his erection; I wanted to kiss him till I was breathless. But I just lay there, dumbstruck.
“Natalie?”
I screwed my eyes shut.
“I want you, Natalie. God, how I want you…” He thrust his pelvis against my stomach, grinding his steel hard length into me to affirm his words. “But I would never take you now. Not like this.”
His words had a strange effect on me – calming and evoking feelings of deep trust.
“I sense your fear, my little one, why are you so afraid?” His husky voice soothed me over. How could I tell him? Words weren’t enough.
“Open your eyes so I can see what you’re feeling. It's OK, I won’t hurt you.” Concern laced his voice. His hand cupped my chin, his thumb gently caressing my lips. I could drown in his touch alone.
My lids were heavy. Heavy with desire and pain and fear.
“Open, Natalie,” he coaxed so gently I couldn’t refuse.
I forced my eyes to open, my lids lifting slowly, trying to force my gaze to be neutral. But the moment I looked into his – soft and gentle – all the emotions came rushing back. This man could look deep into my soul without me uttering a word.
A sigh of relief escaped his lips. “You want me too…” he breathed as a wicked, wicked grin spread over his lips.
He must have read the confusion in my eyes. “For a moment there I thought you didn’t want me, little one. But your eyes tell me everything I need to know.”
The pressure from his thumb increased on my lips, and as a small gasp escaped, he pushed his thumb into my mouth. I sucked his thumb hungrily, my groin throbbing with want.
“Ahh, God,” he groaned. “What you do to me…” He took my hand in his and slipped it between us, resting my palm on his erection, which had grown even harder and longer as I touched it. “I want you.” I stroked his length lovingly, my thumb rubbing over the tip roughly, sucking his thumb harder and harder.
He pulled his thumb from my mouth and instantly replaced it with a warm wet kiss, his tongue wild, stroking, teasing, hot and wet.
His hands slipped under my top, finding my breasts like missiles, pushing my bra cups up. “You feel so good,” he moaned softly, “a perfect handful,” as his thumbs rolled and pinched my aching nipples. His words turned me on even more, the heat between my legs rising, my panties wet with want.
I slung my leg over his, pressing my body as close to his as I could get it, rubbing my mound against his throbbing erection, desperate for the friction, pushing him closer with my leg on his ass. It was driving me wild, in spite of the barrier of clothing between us.

Jani has been married for a long time to a special man, and her two children and their partners are the sunshine in her life. She is a voracious reader and would spend her last dollar on a book - always fascinated that for the mere price of a book, she can escape her world for a while and see through someone else's eyes.

Besides reading, her favorite 'thing' is traveling - she has traveled the world, learning about the ways people live and has come to the realization that no matter where we live, we all ultimately want the same things. Her hobby - Scrapbooking - keeps her up till way after midnight and her usual subjects are her family and her travels.

Ever since she can remember, Jani wanted to write stories about people, about their lives and loves. Relationships and Happiness - arguably the most difficult things to master in life and yet exactly what everyone ultimately desires (in her humble opinion).

EXCERPT:

“Three double-espressos, please,” Miranda barked at the purple-dreadlocked college student behind the counter of her building’s lobby coffee shop. “With soy milk and a dash of hazelnut syrup. And can you put all three double-espressos in the same big cup, please? Just leave off the lid. I’ll drink it here.”

The purple-dreadlocked clerk didn’t acknowledge Miranda’s order. He just stared at her.

Miranda rolled her eyes. She didn’t have time for this. “Pardon me, but are you hard of hearing?”

“No,” the glassy-eyed, purple-haired clerk said after a long, awkward moment. “Sorry. I was just kind of freaked out by your--face, that’s all.”

“My face? Are you implying there’s something wrong with my face?” Miranda’s temper—short in even the best of circumstances—let loose in full post-market-crash fury. “Because if you are honestly going to stand there making comments about my face when your hair looks like something out of a Dr. Seuss book, then you have really got a lot of nerve, buddy.”

Purple Dread Head’s mouth popped open for a moment, then clapped shut with a click. Silently he turned his back on Miranda and began frothing some milk for her espresso order.

“That’s more like it,” she said under her breath. “Lazy freaking hippie.”

Tossing petty insults at low-paid service workers wasn’t exactly Miranda’s style----in fact, she’d put herself through business school slinging lattes at this coffee chain’s main competition----but losing eighty-seven million dollars’ worth of her clients’ money in one day wasn’t exactly her style, either. With that kind of bad news weighing her down, Miranda figured she was entitled to blow her stack a little bit. She stepped down to the end of the counter to await her order, seething, and grinding her teeth in time to the espresso machine.

As she stood there, gathering up about nineteen packets of sugar for what would probably be the most intense shot of caffeine in her life, Miranda felt a sharp tap on her shoulder.

“I really think you owe the Rastafarian behind the counter an apology, miss.”

Miranda whirled around. A tall man stood just to her left, carrying an extra-large mug of hot chocolate complete with about four inches worth of whipped cream on top. A tall, slim, trim, well-dressed, and very attractive man. Dark hair in an immaculate, well-combed cut. Ice-blue eyes. Jawline so angular and sharp it was probably capable of shredding lettuce. Broad shoulders, square chest, dimpled chin. A stop-your-heart-right-between-beats kind of tall, attractive man. In other words ….

Drop. Dead. Gorgeous.

A drop-dead-gorgeous man who also looked about two seconds shy of tossing his hot chocolate right into Miranda’s face.

“Tell me more about these Tuatha De Danann.” Karina whispered as she sat back down in her seat.

Xavier was silent for a moment taking in Karina’s face again. “What do you want to know?”

“What are they?”

“Celtic faeries, I told you.”

Karina laughed nervously and shifted uncomfortably in her chair, she was trying to listen to what Xavier was telling her but it was all sounding farfetched.

“What do you imagine when I say the word faerie?” he asked her. “Diminutive pixies that live in toadstool houses? Tinkerbell? They are all children story characters, works of fiction. The Tuatha De Danann were fierce warriors, a race of nomads who broke away from the Pelasgians in 1900 B.C. They left Greece and called themselves the Tuatha De Danann and migrated north, eventually settling in Ireland. They took with them their four sacred treasures, The Stone of Virtue, the Sword of Lugh, the Spear of Victory and the Cauldron of the Gods.”

“You think I look like Danu? That’s why you called me Tuatha; you think I’m one of them?”

“It’s a strange coincidence that you have been named Tuatha, and you share a striking resemblance to them.” Xavier replied.

Karina shook her head. “But I’m no warrior; I can’t go into an elevator without hyperventilating. I’m a doormat, people walk all over me all the time. I have spent my whole life doing what other people tell me to do, what I think will make them happy.”

Xavier smirked, “You can’t go in the water either.”

“But you said the Tuatha De Danann arrived in Ireland in a mist. They would have had to travel over water,” she pointed out.

“That was part of the spell Manannan put on them. They could only live on the hill and in their Otherworld fortress.”

“Why are you no good for me Xavier?” her fingers ran through his hair playfully.

“You haven’t worked it out yet?” his mouth pulled up on one side.

She shook her head, “No. Tell me.”

“Do you wonder why I bring out the aggression in you? Feelings you didn’t think you were capable of.” Karina nodded.

“It’s because of what you are Karina. You need to embrace it.”

Karina rolled her eyes, “The faeries again. Do you know how much trouble that caused with my family? They believe that Tuatha is a nickname my Grandmothers wayward Great Aunt, called her bastard daughter. Apparently I look like her so they decided to call me Tuatha because they thought it would be cute!”

“Your family have no idea?” Xavier’s eyes lit up.

“Not that they are telling me, but my mother is avoiding my calls now and will barely speak to me so I dare say they have an idea about something. Let me guess Xavier, you’re one too?”

He smiled trying to fight back a laugh, “No, I’m definitely not.”

“Then what are you? What is it about you that gets under my skin, and in my head?”

Xavier laughed, “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you,” and he moved from the table but Karina pushed him back. “Tell me,” she demanded.

2. Haunted

Ian held Antonio’s attention and Ronan ran to Karina. Taking a knife from a sheath strapped to his ankle, he cut through the ropes that kept her captive against the tree. As the bounds fell to the ground, she moved her arms, trying to assist the circulation. She winced and held her elbow. “You’re hurt,” Ronan commented.

“I’ll be fine,” Karina growled.

He nodded and handed her his spear, “Don’t let me down girlie.” When the ancient timber touched Karina’s hands, she felt the power course through her. An unbelievable rush that made her forget her ailments and strengthen every fibre inside her. Karina took a few long deep breaths to focus. She looked to Antonio and the beating he was inflicting on Ian, the man she loved, the one who would die to protect her. She spun the spear around her hand and adjusted her grip before she ran at the lycanthrope that was here to kill her.

When she was a few feet away, Karina stabbed her weapon into the earth and leveraged herself, kicking Antonio in the face. The impact sending him sailing backward through the air and landing on his back with a loud thud as the air rushed from his lungs. Ian stood frozen, looking at Karina “Are you ok?”

Karina’s lip twitched up on one side and she pushed Ian back and moved her body in front of his, protecting him from Antonio. He had now changed into his lycanthrope form and swung a gnarled hairy claw which connected with Karina’s arm, leaving a long gash that ran from her shoulder to her good elbow. Karina cried out in pain and clutched her wound. Ian pulled her toward him “Karina!” he gasped. As the beast before them snarled and took another swipe. Ian was able to pull Karina out of the way and he waited for retaliation.

She looked at Ian and grimaced through the pain. “I’m ok,” she assured. “I’m going to finish this,” and she kicked the Spear of Victory from the ground up into her hands and swaggered toward the monster that was Antonio. “You want me, come and get me,” she jeered.

“Karina, no!” Ian started but Ronan held him back.

“No brother, she has to do this.”

A voice spoke in Karina’s head. So you have finally worked out that you are not strong enough for me. That only the descendant of Danu possesses the strength to take on an ancient being. Karina ignored the agony she was in and the protests from her body and started stalking Antonio. They circled each other and Karina twirled her weapon around her hands. You know how this will end Karina why not give yourself over to me now.

“Never!” Karina shouted and lunged toward the lycanthrope that thirsted for her blood.

3. Journey

The car was dangerously silent as it sped south through the countryside. Karina’s eyes didn’t move from Aedan’s silhouette as he concentrated on the road ahead. Lines of worry were forming around his eyes. In the back with her, Ian and Lorcan drifted in and out of consciousness as Lakeyn drove. How dare he order me around, she thought, and what exactly did he mean by her and Ian meeting our fate?

“Are you going to speak to me or continue to throw visual daggers at me?” He asked turning around.

“Let’s get one thing straight. You don’t order me around.”

“If you weren’t hell bent of trying to get yourself killed then I wouldn’t have to.” Karina’s mouth dropped open. “I’m not trying to get myself killed!” Aedan raised his eyebrows. “In the last few hours you have attempted to swim across the North Channel through a swarm of Lion’s Mane jellyfish, tried to slit your wrists, went toe to toe with a lycanthrope and wanted to run into the night, on the full moon, looking for a Guardian.”

She crossed her arms over her chest and scoffed. “You should have been with me for the last few weeks then.”

He shook his head and laughed. “You are like no Tuatha De Danann I have ever met. I’ll give you that.”

“Until a year ago I hadn’t even heard of the Danann, so excuse me if I don’t conform to protocol.” Lakeyn let out a deep belly laugh and Aedan joined him. Karina blushed with embarrassment.

“You’re in for a surprise,” Lakeyn commented. The two continued to laugh at Karina’s expense a little longer before Lakeyn turned the car around and stopped.

“What are we doing?”

“Just checking,” Lakeyn answered as he stepped out of the car and listened.

“I don’t feel anything,” Karina said and looked out into the night as her fingers tightened around the handle of Ian’s blade. Her knees was bouncing with anticipation, they were so close she could sense it. Something was urging her to continue on. Lakeyn strode away from the car and began to jog. Aedan undid his seatbelt and turned to Karina. “Stay here.”

“Yeah right,” she scoffed and opened the door.

Aedan followed Lakeyn and Karina looked around. The moon was high above and illuminated the landscape. A man was lying in the field and Lakeyn was now at his side trying to rouse him. Aedan stopped and turned to Karina, his face was sympathetic and she knew it must be Noah. Running down the hill she joined them.
